All courses will allow time for a lunch break as well as ample observation hours.  Lunches will be served onsite and are available for purchase upon registration.  Lunches must be pre-ordered. We need a minimum of 4 Teacher Trainees enrolled in any given Teacher Training course by June 1, 2013 in order to hold the class. A limited number of homestay accomodations are available on a first come first serve basis.  Register early and select 'I need a homestay' on the registration form to ensure your best possible chance of benefiting from this amazing offer.

Included in the teacher trainee sessions are the opening welcome/faculty recital, opening Bar-b-que & Swim Party, t-shirt, noontime presentations, Thursday evening ensemble concert and Friday afternoon final concert.  An optional event is our  Faculty/Teacher Dinner on Wednesday evening - a relaxed dinner with idea sharing (bring your questions, concerns, ideas and successes!!).  DSI T-shirt day is the Thursday of institute each year.  Students, Faculty, and Trainees enjoy signing each others shirts as well as joining the group photo.

DSI is offering a discount for those teachers taking Book training. For every private student registered for our institute, that teacher will receive a $10.00 discount off their tuition.

For those trainees who have already taken the required Every Child Can (ECC) course,  please sign up for your course training only.  Any trainee who has not yet taken ECC, must do so on Friday, the 22rd of July, or prior to the institute.  You must attend the entire course in order to receive registration with SAA.

ECC:  6 hours
Book 1:
28 hours class time & 15 hours observation

It is strongly encouraged that you come prepared with Book 1 memorized. Please be sure to bring notebooks and Suzuki materials.  The new, International Version of Book 1 is highly recommended.

Audition Requirement:

To qualify as a participant in training courses rather than auditor, applicants must submit a video audition of specified repertoire to the SAA, preferably prior to enrollment. Videos should be submitted at least  8 weeks prior to the course start date, with the required fees and a completed application form.  If submitted later than 8 weeks before the course start date, audition results determining participant eligibility may not be available prior to the course, and will require late audition fees.  For courses occurring during summer 2013, applicants submitting tapes later than March 21, 2013 may not receive audition results prior to the course, even if meeting the above deadlines.  The SAA strongly encourages Participant status.  If an audition is not sent before the start of the course or the results of your audition are not yet available when you begin the course, your status will be Audition Pending (Provisional Participant).  The postmark deadline for Provisional Participant is 4 weeks after the course is completed.  If the audition is accepted, your status becomes Participant and your course participation will register, provided that all other requirements are met.  If the audition is not accepted, your status becomes Auditor and the course will not be registered.  For further information, please see the SAA website at www.suzukiassociation.org and find the downloadable video audition application form (with instructions) in the teacher section, or call the SAA toll free 1-888-378-9854 for this form.

Auditors

Music teachers are invited to register as auditors.  If you are a band director, private instructor considering the Suzuki method for your studio, a teacher registering for ECC only or a new/established teacher looking for new teaching ideas, the auditor status is ideal. You are welcome to observe all student master classes, group classes, rehearsals and concerts.  You may not observe teacher training sessions. No audition is required and you do not receive SAA Registration. In addition you may join us for the *Faculty/Teacher Dinner, Opening Welcome/Faculty Recital, *Opening Bar-b-Que/Swim Party and all noontime presentations.  *Additional fees apply.
